CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning)
Learn and apply!
By using CLIL as the teaching method, English is no more a subject, but a medium. In a natural learning environment, children learn different subjects using English and apply that knowledge in real life.
Exploratory

Links learning and life. This course is designed to make children think about their relationship with others and the environment as well as solve problems they face.
Horizon Academy integrates language, mathematics, social study, science, and art. We have adapted curriculum from Taiwan and California. This course is conducted in English, two hours every day.
Reading
Make reading a life-long habit.
Students spend 15 minutes immersed in Modeled Sustained Silent Reading (MSSR). They discover the universe and develop their interests and reading ability.
Activities
Learning by doing!
This includes coding, art, cooking/crafts, Rube Goldberg, and guidance. Children get a sense of fulfillment from hands-on activities and problem solving.
Foreign Language
Languages give you wings to fly!
French is the second most influential language in the world. Half of the countries speak it. At Horizon Academy, we use progressive learning methods when teaching foreign languages. Children will learn French and French culture in a fun way.
Mathematics
Math is the basis for logical and abstract thinking.
Using approved textbooks by the Ministry of Education and other comprehensive learning materials, Horizon Academy helps children grasp and apply math in real life and develop critical and analytical thinking.
Mandarin
Better themselves through language!
Using approved textbooks by the Ministry of Education and other comprehensive learning materials, Horizon Academy helps children build a strong knowledge base in Mandarin, develop the skill to apply it, and gain thorough understanding.
PE
Exercise strengthens the body and mind!
It is important to help kids develop an interest and a habit to exercise in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Games and competitions that come along with exercises also enhance peer interactions.
After School Clubs

Throughout students time at Horizon Academy Elementary School, students have opportunity to participate in a wide range of after school clubs as part of their co-curricular activities which broaden their creativity, interest and help them to develop as Global-Minded individuals. Students have various choices across a spectrum of artistic and scientific clubs to harness their abilities.
